Divorce and the teenager

Follow Us

Divorce not only causes the breakdown of the family unit, but it causes the separation of child and parent.  Actually, in some cases, the child may very well be the most affected victim of the divorce.

Divorce hurts children differently; it depends upon their age.    In the case of the teenager, it can bring about a deep feeling of depression and alienation – sometimes the child might feel guilt.  How can a child side with one parent.

It’s hard to imagine, but when there are daily disputes and constant arguing, divorce can be a good thing because the child does not have to listen to his or her parents yelling every day.  Statistics show that girls raised by mothers grow up to be considerate and responsible, while boys who are close to their fathers experience fewer emotional conflicts.
