Divorce and your retirement

Follow Us

Being divorced does not mean that your ex will not attempt to take you to the cleaners down the road or after you’re gone.

Your divorce is final and you are an emotional wreck.  Sit down, smell the roses, and make sure you change who is listed as your beneficiary on any accounts or insurance you possess.  Do it now to avoid hurting your children or new spouse later on.

Follow these easy steps to protect you, your children and new spouse:

1.  Change the beneficiary listed on your retirement accounts, and life insurance policy

2.  If you have investments, put them in your name only

3.  Update your will or create a new one

If you are in this situation and do not know where or how to start, contact an experienced Riverside Family Law attorney who will answer all of your questions, protect your safety, welfare and financial future.
