Were you married for a very long time?  Have you been paying spousal support for a very long time?  Sometimes it is possible to end spousal support.

California law allows an individual who is paying spousal support to revisit the issue in order to reduce or eliminate payments.  Even though it feels like it, spousal support is not permanent; it does not go on forever.

California Family Code Section 4320 states, in part, “In ordering spousal support under this part, the court shall consider all of the following circumstances:  The extent to which the earning capacity of each party is sufficient to maintain the standard of living established during the marriage, taking into account the marketable skills of the supported party…..”.

If you are trying to modify or terminate your spousal support payments, contact a knowledgeable and experienced Riverside Family Law attorney who will help you create a support reduction or elimination strategy, based on your marital settlement agreement.
