Road to recovery after a divorce

After divorce, in order to get on the road to recovery, you must learn to adjust your life without your partner in it.  Are you at a loss as to what to do, how to do it, or where to go?

Learning to deal without a partner is part of becoming a single woman again.  You, alone, can decide what to do with your life.  Being alone offers the opportunity for growth and change.  Even though marriage gave you many opportunities, it also involved compromise and now you do not have to compromise as much.

There are many ways to fill the empty space in your life.  Think of projects you can do that your partner used to do.  Make a list of things that need to be repaired; if you can read directions, you can fix whatever.

Now is a good time to redecorate your bedroom – make it girly; make it pink.  Don’t just do things around the house – buy some show tickets in advance – go with a girlfriend or relative.  Have something to look forward to.

Plan something special for every weekend by yourself or with a friend or family member.  Finally, put away all those mementos that are around the house.  Don’t think of yourself as being alone; think of yourself as being free to bring new experiences into your life.
