What is a final judgment of divorce?

Follow Us

A final judgment of divorce is a legal court document or marital settlement, signed by a judge that outlines what is expected of both parties after the termination of their marriage.

This final document details how each party should handle all aspects of the divorce; it is a binding agreement.  If one or both parties do not comply with the final order, future court hearings may take place.

At a later date, modifications can be made regarding child custody, child support, alimony, or property division.
