What is a military divorce?

Follow Us

A military divorce is a divorce between a civilian and a spouse that is in the armed forces or retired military.

The divorce process is the same as for any other couple; however, there may be more leniencies relating to residency requirements – the couple has options as to which state they choose to file papers in – the state the military member is stationed in, the state that the military member claims residency in, or the state that the non-military spouse resides.

If you are an enlisted member of the military or married to someone who is enlisted and you are considering divorce, contact a Riverside Divorce attorney who is familiar with military divorces and will be able to help you stand up for yourself and protect your rights.
