What is a probate?

Follow Us

Probate is the legal process when the court determines the validity of a Will and appoints an executor for the estate if there is none. The court assesses the validity of any claims made against the estate by beneficiaries, heirs or creditors.

Even though probating an estate does not involve litigation, it can still be complicated, especially when the involved parties are grieving the loss of a loved one.

If your family member died without a Will, it is important that you contact a Riverside Family Law attorney who has experience in probate.  However, it is best that you have an estate plan in place before it is actually needed.
