What is mediation?

Follow Us

Mediation is a positive, cost-efficient alternative to litigation.  It helps the couple reach an agreement in a cooperative and rational manner – without anger and hostility.

When two people enter into divorce in an amicable manner, mediation can be used as a powerful tool to preserve their financial resources, while staying out of the courtroom.  It is a good tool that helps the couple re-establish their communication skills.  The process is confidential.  The mediator is there to assisting in identifying parenting skills, help with problem solving, explore alternative solutions and reach an agreement that works for all concerned.

A mediator does not replace an attorney.  The parties should meet with their respective attorneys prior to the first mediation session.
