What is the California Natural Death Act Declaration?

The California Natural Death Act Declaration allows an individual 18 years of age or older to instruct their physician to withhold any measures undertaken to preserve their life – if pre-determined criteria are met. The declaration must have the signatures of two witnesses.
Before the declaration can go into effect, the patient must inform his or her doctor about it. The patient must have written proof that he or she is terminally ill and must also be incapable of making further decisions regarding treatments to save his or her life.
If you decide you want a Natural Death Act Declaration in your medical file because you want to control the kind of health care you receive, contact an experienced Riverside Family Law attorney who can help you draft one and advise you if this is the right direction for you to go.
