Planning for after your death is something no one wants to discuss. Young couples often put off discussing this because after all, they are too young for death.  However, sudden deaths do occur.  You should not wait until you are sick, old or incapacitated to create a legal estate plan.

No one is too young to discuss estate planning.  Even if you have a will, your estate plan should contain directives regarding life-saving healthcare that you want to receive, who you want to make decisions for you if you cannot, burial instructions and other important subjects.

In addition, unmarried couples or same-sex couples should consider estate planning to ensure that they have enforceable rights relating to the relationship.
